February is American Heart Month
Raising Awareness and Strengthening Communities Against Heart Disease
February 2025
Every February, Americans across the nation come together to spotlight the dangers of heart disease and stroke. As members of BEK Communications Cooperative, this month serves as a reminder of how vital it is to stay informed and proactive about heart health. American Heart Month aims to raise awareness, educate the public, and encourage strategies to combat cardiovascular disease—the leading cause of death in the United States.
One way to protect your heart is by understanding the risk factors associated with heart disease. Conditions like high blood pressure and high cholesterol, along with habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, poor diet, and inactivity, can all increase your risk. Small changes, like eating healthier or staying active, can make a big difference in prevention.
American Heart Month is more than a campaign—it's a call to action. It’s an opportunity to unite against a common health threat and commit to ongoing efforts to prioritize heart health. By understanding the risks, making simple lifestyle changes, and supporting local initiatives, we can make a meaningful impact.
